AN AMISH BUGGY that would normally be drawn by horses has been fitted with a turbo jet engine. “It’s like oil and water, they should not go together,” jokes its creator Chad Clark. The outrageous project, built by Chad Clark and Mike Monter of Millersburg, Ohio was originally meant to be something very different. “Mike and I were at our local county fair, I mentioned it would be really cool to build a turbine-powered four-wheel drive pulling truck,” Chad explained. But the auction description had misrepresented the engine as a turbo shaft engine. “I went home that night, found an engine online and bought it but didn’t realise it was not turboshaft, it was turbojet only,” Chad remembers. They ended up having to use a much lighter vehicle instead of the original truck. “We live in the Amish capital of the world so we figured an Amish buggy would be perfect,” Chad said. Co-creator Mike Monter told Future Studios Cars: “He called me up, said we’re not doing a pulling truck anymore, we’re doing an Amish buggy – seemed natural.” The build and modifications cost around $30,000 and took roughly 700 hours of labour to complete: “Many all-nighters,” Chad said. When out in public, people struggle to believe the bizarre creation actually works. “When people see the Thunder Buggy they can’t believe their eyes and the first question is, does it really move? Yes it does,” explained Chad. Traditionally, these buggies would have been moved by horses so this particular one is far from conventional. “The buggy is not designed to take 100 feet of electrical wiring, fuel tanks and a jet engine,” Chad admitted. With a top speed of 65 miles per hour before the wheels start shaking, this exhibition-only vehicle was not built for speed: “It’s a really simple engine design, it’s some pretty awesome engineering from back in the 40s,” explained Chad.

I cannot bring it to you,' the umpire said. <br/><br/>Furious, Moutet went off on a lengthy rant about all the other refreshments on offer at the Madrid Open and finished by sarcastically saying: 'Am I asking for caviar?' <br/><br/>The Frenchman was eventually offered a coffee, but not by the officials. A spectator handed Moutet a cup over the railings, generating an amused applause from members of the Madrid crowd. <br/><br/>Moments later, the umpire could be heard calling for security to remove the fan.<br/><br/>At 5-5 in the decisive tiebreak, Moutet incredibly lost control of his racket after serving and ended up losing the point, left with nothing but his feet to swipe at Shang's return.<br/><br/>Moutet, who has fast become one of the most controversial players on the men's circuit, previously demanded for a 1-liter bottle of Pepsi during an Argentina Open qualifier in February.<br/><br/>On this occasion, the 25-year-old star was granted his request and later refused to be treated by the tournament physiotherapist after the match.<br/><br/>In January 2022, Moutet was disqualified from Adelaide International for insulting and swearing at a chair umpire.<br/><br/>And two years prior at an exhibition organised by French tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou, the athlete lost his temper and kicked a racket into the stands before punching the wall at the back of the court.<br/><br/>During the same competition, Moutet labeled Stefanos Tsitsipas' father Apostolos 'stupid' for talking while he was trying to serve.<br/><br/>'You're not allowed to talk. I don't have any problem with Stefanos, who is a good guy, but his father is stupid and everyone knows it,' Moutet said, back in 2020.")
_disabled-student-takes-first-steps-in-10-years-on-stage-at-her-graduation.webp "A chronically ill student took her first steps in 10 years - to accept her awards for excellence at graduation. <br/><br/>Melika Ghanaati, now 19, hasn't been able to walk unaided since 2013 due to four debilitating medical conditions. <br/><br/>She was born with a severe form of scoliosis - a curved spine - as well as congenital myopathy, a disorder which has caused weakness in her muscles. <br/><br/>Growing up, she either used a walker or a wheelchair - and has needed various surgeries to correct her curved spine. <br/><br/>But after a year of intensive physiotherapy, Melika was able to walk up to her teacher unaided and receive her high school diploma, as well as two awards for excellence. <br/><br/>Melika, who is now a student at York University, Canada, said: “This was such a special moment for me - my teachers and closest friends were worried about me, but I proved everyone wrong. <br/><br/>“I wanted to surprise everyone with the walk, but most importantly, I believed I owed it to myself.”<br/><br/>Melika was born with a number of conditions - including scoliosis, severe club feet, congenital myopathy and recurring kidney stones. <br/><br/>But her scoliosis and club feet were the biggest hurdles preventing her from being able to walk. <br/><br/>Up until the age of 13, Melika had a number of surgeries in an attempt to get the curve and club feet corrected. <br/><br/>She even briefly died in ICU after surgery at the age of 12. <br/><br/>She said: “Between the ages of 10 to 13 I had three spinal surgeries.<br/><br/>“I even had a code blue - I died for a few seconds. <br/><br/>“I lost a lot of blood flow and needed to have a blood transfusion.\")
