What seemed to be a slow start turned into a back-and-forth battle between the Dallas Wings and Indiana Fever. Though, Caitlin Clark put up 21 points in her WNBA debut, it did not knock Ogunbowale off her game, hitting the game-winning three-pointer to clinch the win.

Jaelyn Brown who got things going on the defensive end, led the Wings with 21 points, five rebounds, and one assist. Head coach Latricia Trammell said postgame that Brown’s performance was no surprise, saying she knew that when Jaelyn came in she would be an X-factor on this Dallas squad.

“Jaelyn has really stood out in practice, not only by the staff and I, but as well as her teammates,” said Trammell. “I knew what she was capable of and what I love about it is before she came, I told everyone that she was going to be that X-factor. And she hasn’t disappointed.”

The Indiana Fever opened the game with a 14-3 run, led by Clark’s three-point shooting. She sank four of eight threes in the first half alone. Dallas found its offensive rhythm towards the end of the quarter, with Brown taking charge of the offensive momentum.

Dallas secured its first lead with, rookie Jacy Sheldon’s, three-pointer with 2:08 remaining in the quarter. But the Fever’s fast-paced offense appeared to unsettle Dallas. Indiana went on a 13-7 run. NaLyssa Smith’s two-point shot helped the Fever into halftime, 48-40.

What was hurting Dallas was their ability to shoot from the three, only making 5-of-22 attempts compared to Indiana’s 6-of-14 from deep. But the Wings worked their way back from an eight-point deficit to tie at 62-62 in the opening minutes of the final quarter.

Clark had a shot clock violation in the last 24 seconds, turning the ball over to Dallas with the chance to take the victory. Ogunbowale did not take the opportunity lightly, running down the clock and hitting a crucial three to give Dallas a 79-76 lead with only three seconds left to secure the game.

UP NEXT: The Dallas Wings will remain at College Park Center for their final preseason matchup against the Chicago Sky on Wednesday, May 15th. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

A married man says he became “obsessed” with another woman after meeting her at a course - but his wife has since forgiven him after realising it “wasn’t his fault”.

Ruth Perl, 58, and her husband David, 64, have spent 13 years recovering from the incident.

David never acted on his feelings towards the person he fancied - but he chose to tell the woman after confiding in Ruth.

He started researching an emotional experience known as ‘limerence’ - which means intrusive, romantic thoughts about another person.

David realised his feelings were unwanted - he had no control over them and wasn't interested in beginning an affair with the woman.

After telling Ruth about his realisation, the couple spent time rebuilding their relationship - and say they’re happier than ever.

David, a couples’ therapist from St. Albans, Herts., said: “It wasn’t a normal crush, it was weird and disturbing - but we’ve put in the years to heal ourselves since.

“It was a difficult one - I did end up telling the other person, as I was encouraged to do so through therapy.

“I think she was horrified - in hindsight, it was really unfair to put that on her.

“But it’s all about forgiveness, we’ve done the work and are happier than ever.”

David met the woman he developed feelings for on January 14, 2011 - after chatting to her at a training course.

Their conversation lasted less than 20 minutes, but David could feel he was “besotted” by her - without being able to put a finger on why.

“I’ve had crushes before,” he added. “We both have. But nothing like this - this was really unusual.”

David thought about her, night-and-day, for weeks.

He looked online at forums about “obsessive love” - and came across a post about limerence.

He said: “I thought, 'jeez, this is what I’ve got to a T.'

“Something’s not right - I was absolutely obsessed and I only spoke to her for 20 minutes.

“I kept going over every single word she said to me, every little action.

“The moment I’d wake up, I’d rehearse in my head what I might say to her if she came up to talk to me.

“I’d experience soaring highs if she replied to an email - and extreme lows if she didn’t.

“It was like an intermittent reward.”

Knowing the feeling wasn’t going to go away any time soon, he decided to tell Ruth - who also works as a couples’ therapist.

She said: “David told me, and this was all going on about five days after my dad’s funeral.

“I was in horrific grief at the time, and so my first thoughts were: ‘Oh, for god’s sake. How can you be so bloody stupid?’

“My dad had just died, and my husband wanted to p*ss off into fantasy land.

“We went into freefall, and it was a very, very difficult 12 months.”

After choosing to concentrate on grieving for her dad for a year, Ruth says she “finally had the brain capacity” to sit down with David, and ask him what was going on.

He hadn’t acted on his feelings - and actively decided he wouldn’t “consummate” the crush.

“David reached out to me,” Ruth said. “He asked me, ‘please help me understand what’s going on.’

“He was so confused. I asked him if he still wanted to be married, and he said, ‘I don’t want to throw away what we’ve got.’

“I told him to sit in the confusion, and I’d do what I could to support him.

“But I knew that what will be will be, we might not necessarily make it out of this.”

David said: “We started having marriage counselling - and one thing I want to stress is it isn’t an excuse to cheat.

“I was responsible for what I did - but it did make me realise that often, people don’t set out to have an affair.”

David explored some of the ways therapists encourage people to “heal” from limerence - including starving themselves from contact, or consummating it with the other person.

He settled on going to therapy, and letting the woman know he couldn’t speak to her anymore.

Now, David and Ruth help other couples going through the same thing - and have taught their children, Hannah-Mai, 32, and Isobel, 29, how to value their own relationships.

Ruth said: “It was important our two daughters knew about all this.

“They were older teenagers when this was all going on, and they understood it.

“We thought it was very important for them to understand that all marriages have differences - but you don’t throw the towel in when the going gets tough.

“Even when you’re talking about a full-blown physical affair. Once is a mistake, twice is a habit.”

Hiring managers have long used the reputation of a new college graduate’s alma mater as an indicator of an applicant’s ability and expected job performance. Elite national consulting, banking and investment firms focused their recruiting on the Ivy League and a handful of the other most selective schools. Big companies looked more widely, but still often favored a limited number of highly ranked universities. Regional firms would tap graduates of schools with the best reputations in their geographic area.

0:00 Introduction
0:23 What's Going On With The Ivy League?
2:23 Where Are Recruiters Looking Now?
5:51 How Did Forbes Report This Story?
7:03 What Should Rising College Students Take From This Reporting?
8:30 Other Take Aways

Read the full story on Forbes: https://www.forbes.com/sites/emmawhitford/2024/04/29/the-new-ivies-as-employers-sour-on-the-super-elite-these-20-colleges-shine/?sh=771084b8438f

Subscribe to FORBES: https://www.youtube.com/user/Forbes?sub_confirmation=1

Fuel your success with Forbes. A bride whose late father was the Clemson Tiger mascot during his college days was surprised when the Tiger walked her down the aisle on her wedding day. Clemson holds a special place in the hearts of 29-year-old Brindley Faile Perrini's family, where her parents, Randy and Trellise, met during their studies. Between 1982 and 1984, Randy was also the university's famed Tiger mascot, which meant that Brindley, who graduated from Clemson, and her sister later became huge fans of the college, attending numerous mascot reunions with their dad as teenagers. Sadly for the family, though, Randy passed away from a heart attack in 2018 after 34 years of marriage, leaving Brindley with a hole to fill when walking down the aisle on her wedding day. Mom Trellise, 61, devised a plan to make things extra special. Having reached out to the Clemson, a committee discussed the idea Trellise had put forward: that the Clemson Tiger would walk Brindley down the aisle in her father's place. Brindley said that the Tiger had never fulfilled this duty, but after the committee approved the request, the wheels were set in motion. Ahead of her wedding at Alexander Homestead in Charlotte, North Carolina, Brindley felt bummed because a photo charm of her father had not arrived in time to add to her bouquet. This provided the perfect cover for the surprise, as while Brindley was having her bridal portraits taken on March 23, her mom said: 'I know you were upset that the photo charm didn’t come in, so I got you a little something to help you honor Dad.' A surprised Brindley did not know what to expect and started following her mother. Then, around the corner, came the Clemson Tiger, causing Brindley to go weak at the knees and scream in shock. With a smile beamed across her face, the 32-year-old, who lives in Mesa, Arizona, headed over to the mascot for a big hug.
